surroundings

After taking a stroll round Positano, shopped in its small boutiques, relaxed in the sun on its beautiful beaches, there is still time to discover the surrounding area and explore the pathways that lead to the mountain hamlets.

The Sea
Besides the Spiaggia Grande and the Fornillo Beach, easily reached on foot from the town, the whole coastline in the surrounding area is dotted with small beaches (Arienzo, Laurito, etc.), some accessible only from the sea. A trip to the marine reserve of Punta Campanella and to the Li Galli isles will certainly be of interest both from a natural and historic perspective.
From the harbour of Positano, you can take a day trip to the island of Capri

Other tourist destinations
From Positano you can easily reach the most famous tourist locations in the Campania Region:

A small hamlet on the Lattari Mountains, almost suspended between land and sky, it can be reached by road or on foot up an endless series of steps.
Don’t miss the feast of the Madonna delle Grazie on the 2nd of July

The hamlet of Nocelle
Another minute hamlet near Montepertuso, it offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Amalfi Coast; you can see as far as the Faraglioni on Capri.

A walk in paradise
Positano is an excellent departure point for many trekking trails of historical and scenic importance: ancient paths, which were the only routes of communication for Positano when the state road 163 had not been built yet. They offer truly impressive views, rising steeply from the sea, among orchards and olive groves where time seems to have stopped, e.g., Il Sentiero degli Dei (The pathway of the Gods) that connects Agerola, a small town on the hills above the Amalfi Coast, to Nocelle, an outlying hamlet of Positano. The name gives a good idea of the spectacular beauty of the panorama that appears before your eyes. It’s truly a walk in paradise!

To please the palate
Positano is an excellent starting point for interesting and very tasty food and wine itineraries, to discover the flavours and traditions of the area. Campania is one of the most interesting regions from a culinary perspective, with as many as 21 restaurants with Michelin stars, of whom 5 on the Amalfi Coast and 8 in the nearby Sorrento Peninsula.
